Enugu rangers unveils a new technical adviser

The immediate past coach of Enyimba International Football Club of Aba, Coach Gbenga Ogunbote was on November, 1st 2017, at Government House Enugu unveiled as the new technical adviser of Rangers International Football Club. Ogunbote had in the past coached Gateway football club of Oshogbo, 3SC of Ibadan, Sharks football club of Porthourcourt and   recently, Enyimba Football Club of Aba. He came with his assistant coach Lawal Abimbola to the venue as they put pen to paper. Soft spoken coach said when asked why he left Enyimba Football Club despite coming third and qualifying them for CAF confederations cup; he said that he was in Enugu to take some fresh challenges. He also while answering questions from journalists said that he was pleased to coach Rangers as it is always the wish of every coach to handle Rangers as he described them as a movement. He did not state the duration as well as  condition of his contract.

However, former chairman of Rangers supporters club, Mr. Chika Nzelu immediately after the unveiling expressed displeasure over the appointment of Ogunbote. He was of the opinion that former Rangers player and coach, Sylvanus Okpalla whom according to him rescured Rangers from going to relegation should have been given the nod to continue. He opined that Ogunbote as he new him has never won any trophy in all the teams he had coached but in a swift reaction, the current chairman, Rangers supporters club, Ibuchukwu Nwodo disagreed with Mr. Nzelu saying that Ogunbote is experienced and had traversed length and breath of the country.

In another development, former General Manager of Warri Wolves as well as one time higher goal scorer in the Nigerian Premier League Mr. Davidson Owumi was also unveiled as the new General Manager of Rangers International Football Club.  In his speech to the press, he thanked the state government and Ranger board for finding him worthy for the post. He promised to rebrand the club and make it envy of other clubs. It would be recalled that Owumi had once worked as General Manager of the club and also played for Rangers in the 90’s.
