Jesus did not leave behind powerless disciples when He ascended back to heaven. Rather, He impacted divine authority to those who believe in Him, along with the Holy Spirit to accomplish great works for Him on this earth.
John 14;12 says, ’’verily I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the father’’. What works had Jesus been doing? Healing the sick; raising the dead; delivering the people who are under the bondage of the enemy; casting out demons; proclaiming the kingdom of God; and lots more. Who else can do these good works and even more? The answer is: ‘Whoever believes in Jesus Christ’ (Mark16; 17). Not just His twelve apostles, the priests, neither pastors nor church leaders, but whoever believes in Him, includes you and I. You might ask; ‘How can this be’? This is because, Christ Jesus who possess ‘‘all power and authority in heaven and on earth’’ (Math.28; 18), has chosen to delegate His authority to believers, so that they might go forth to expand the kingdom of God on this earth, and you are one of those believers that the Lord has called and empowered to be His effective ambassadors here on earth. In this message, Fr. Mbaka encourages the people of God to continue to build up their spiritual lives in order to be in a position to exercise the power and authority that Jesus Christ had delegated to them to carry out His good works here on earth, even as he releases the auction for 2019.
As a believer, you have been put in a position of power and authority – a position delegated to you by God through Jesus Christ to operate in the same frequency with Him. Jesus said, in Math.28; 18-20,’’I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Go, then to all people everywhere and make them my disciples, baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you’’. In this great commission, you can see an impartation of power and authority from Jesus Christ to believers in Him. That authority was given to you as part of your inheritance in Christ Jesus. You have entered into this position of authority because you are heir of God and co-heir with Christ (Rm.8-17).
Moreover, Jesus gives us a large measure of divine power in the baptism with the Holy Spirit. Even though Jesus delegated His power and authority to believers during His earthly ministry, after His death and ascension into heaven, the disciples were living in fear to the extent that they needed boldness to exercise that authority. That was why Jesus promised to send them the Holy spirit as in Acts 1;8, ‘’you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you , and you will be my witness in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth’’. You can see that Jesus willingly gives authority to His children. And the power to wield that authority effectively comes into promised baptism with the Holy Spirit. That is where believers will receive power to fulfill the lords’ work on earth. The early church needed to be filled with the Holy Spirit and so do we today.
Jesus secured your power and authority
Jesus succeeded in securing all power by going to the cross, by dying a horrible death, suffering the penalty for sin, and defeating devil in the pit of hell. He came to earth in form of a human for one reason; to recapture the authority that devil had stolen through Adam’s disobedience in the garden. After securing that power and authority, he freely gave it over into the hands of those who would believe in Him – you and me.
It is not enough for you to simply accept Jesus’ work at Calvary. You are held responsible for much more. Along with the power and authority that you have been given as a Christian, come certain responsibilities.
Deliverance and healing ministry were instituted by Jesus where He gave His disciples power to heal the sick and cast out demons. Jesus’ words in Mark 16 confirm the transfer of heavenly authority to believers, and they were not intended for the early church alone. His words are just as vital and real today as when they were first spoken. He appeared to His disciples after His resurrection from the death and delegated His power and authority to them. Beginning in verse 15 of Mark 16, Jesus said: “Go into the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, but he that believeth not shall be condemned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name, they shall cast out demons, they shall speak with new tongues; if they take up serpents and drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover”. I want you to take notice of who is to do all these things; ‘His disciples’, in other words, ‘those that believe’. A believer is the one with power and authority to do all these things. We are not sent powerless. If you believe in Jesus and His promises, you can heal the sick, speak in new tongues, preach the gospel, cast out demons and do much more. How? Because Jesus who has all authority in heaven and on earth (Math.28; 18) has given you this great commission and then the authority to fulfill it, even with the confirmation of supernatural signs.
Unfortunately, in so many churches today, the children of God are not taught that they, not just the pastors, priests nor the church leaders are called and empowered to do the works of Jesus. Believers should know that Jesus has given all of us the power and authority to accomplish His work on earth, consistent with His unique callings and the spiritual enablement given to each one of us.
CHRIST AUTHORITY WORKING EFFECTIVELY IN THE LIVES OF BELIEVERS.
You have been given authority to preach the gospel
“Go ye into the world and preach the gospel to every creature”, Jesus said (Mark 16; 15). Every believer has the authority and power to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. Verse 20 of Mark 16 says, ‘‘they went forth and preached everywhere, and the lord worked with them and proved that their preaching was true by the miracles that were performed’’. God will confirm His words but first it has to be put forth. That is where you and I come in. God does not preach; He has given you the authority to do the preaching, and He will confirm your preaching with signs and wonders.
You have received the authority to stand against the devil
One of the most vital areas of the believers’ authority is his power to successfully stand against devil. In Ephesians 6, beginning from verse 11, Paul described the armor that we as believers have to put on, in combat against demon. It is the whole armor of God. But not once does he say that God will put the armor on you or that God will fight the devil for you. ‘YOU’ is the understood subject of these verses. ‘’You put on the whole armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against all the strategies of the devil’’. God has given you the power and authority to stand against demon and his destructive works. He has provided the armor but it is your responsibility as a believer to put on that armor and stand against the devil. James 4; 7 says,’ you resist the devil and he will flee from you. The armor and the weapons are at your disposal. God is there with you to back His words, but all is worthless unless you take your position of authority and assume the responsibility to use what He has provided. You have the power and the authority to take the word of God, the name of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit and run demon out of your affairs. I don’t want to hear again that devil is pursuing you; rather you should be the one pursuing devil out of your life. Don’t pray and ask God to fight devil for you. You are the one in authority. With the authority of the believer, stand your ground firmly and speak directly to the devil. He will flee.
You live in a world that is full of evil influences. Devil wants to see to it that you forget the reality of being a child of God and that you never realize your place of authority in Christ Jesus, because if you do, that power you walk in makes you absolutely dangerous to him. He has no defense against you when you walk in the power of Gods’ word.
With the believers’ authority, you can cast out demons
Moreover, children of God are equally given authority to cast out demons. By your own power, you cannot cast out demons. But by the power and authority of God, everything is possible. In Luke 9;1-2, 10;19 when Jesus had called the twelve together, He gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick’’. In Luke 10; 17, when the 72 disciples came back from the great commission, they said to Jesus, ’even the demons obeyed us in your name’. And then, Jesus gave them another power in verse 19. This time around, not only that they are going to heal and deliver but they will trample upon serpent and scorpion and they cannot hurt them. Not just to His apostles, but to a large group of His followers including you, Jesus gave power and authority to proclaim the kingdom, to heal the sick, to cast out demons and to overcome all the power of the enemy. Jesus confirmed this promises in Mark16; 17 where He said,’’ these signs shall follow those who believe: in my name they shall cast out demons….’’
How many of you are believers? Because you are a believer in Christ Jesus, you shall cast out demons; you shall heal the sick; you will speak in strange tongue; and neither deadly thing nor poison can destroy you. And in Mathew 15; 13, Jesus gave you another power; that any tree not planted by the heavenly father shall be uprooted by you in Jesus Name, Amen.
In Math 17; 19-20,”the disciples asked Jesus privately ’why couldn’t we drive out the demon’? Jesus replied, ’because you don’t have enough faith’. Truly I tell you, If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, move from here to there and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you’’. Many Christian like these disciples, may be thinking, ‘why couldn’t we?’, and Jesus replies quite simply that it is a matter of faith, in addition to prayer and fasting as Jesus stated in verse 21.
John 14;12 says, ’’verily I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the father’’. What works had Jesus been doing? Healing the sick; raising the dead; cleansing the lepers; casting out demons; proclaiming the kingdom of God; and lots more. Act 10; 38 says, ‘’Christ Jesus anointed with Holy Ghost and power was going about doing good, healing the sick, casting out demon, setting free those who are under the bondage of demon’’. Who else can do these works and even greater? The answer is: ‘whoever believes in Jesus Christ’. Not just His twelve apostles, not only the priests, pastors nor church leaders, but whoever believes in Him, including you and I. You can share the gospel, confirmed with powerful signs, because Jesus has delegated this authority to you. And the believers’ authority is not restricted by our own natural limitations. Remember, it is God’s authority given through Jesus to us.
You have got authority to heal the sick;
Healing of the sick is one of the last signs that Jesus said would follow those that believe in Mark16; 18. “…..they shall lay hands on the sick and they will recover’’. In Luke 9;1-2 “ when Jesus had called the twelve together, He gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick…” It is the privilege of all believers to lay hands on the sick and see them healed. God brings healing, but you and I as believers must pray for the sick and lay hands on them by faith, believing that God will perform His word. Jesus told his disciples that if they had faith, they could move mountain and nothing would be impossible for them.
You have the power of God’s word to exercise your authority
You are the captain of your ship. You have control over your own life- your spirit, your soul and your body. Jesus has delegated power and authority over devil to you as a believer. You are to give him no place in your life. You are born of the spirit to God. You are filled with the spirit of God, and you have been given the word of God. These three elements are enough for you to carry out your spiritual authority here on earth. You simply have to excise your authority and power over sin, sickness, demon, poverty, failure, barrenness, disappointment and every activities of the devil. You have to employ the faith action to receive that authority and join forces with Him on this earth. You are the one to be strong in the lord and in the power of His might. As you do this, the power of God will always be available to work on your behalf.
You can minister and walk from the point of authority;
You need to learn to minister and walk from a point of authority. In His earthly ministry, Jesus said such things as, ’’be thou made whole’’, ‘’take up your bed and walk’’. In Mathew 8; 8 the Roman officer said to Jesus; ‘only said the word and my servant shall be healed’. Immediately, Jesus said the word, the bible recorded that the servant was healed at that same hour. Then to the lame man, peter said in Acts 3; 6,”In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk’’. He too ministered and spoke from a point of authority. It is that same power that God has given you. It is time for you as a believer to begin to act that same way. Know the power you posses as a child of God; to heal, deliver, preach the word, and not to acquire wealth, to compete with yourselves, nor to get educational qualification. All these things are not bad if God gives them to you but know that, that is not the power you have been given. May you posses the power to do exploits in Jesus name, Amen.
The bible says in 2 Cor.10; 4-5,’’the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, they are spiritual and mighty unto God to the pulling down of stronghold’’. We therefore, pray against every powers working against you. If in any way you are under the bondage of the demons, or you have been inflicted with sickness, poverty, barrenness or sin, I claim freedom for you, because if the Son of man sets you free, you are free indeed (John8; 36). The bible says in Math. 16 ; 18 that the gates of Hades shall not prevail against you. Therefore, they shall not have power over you. Fear not, you have overcome them, for greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1John 4; 4). You are indestructible. You are more than conqueror (Romans 8; 37). Col 3; 3 says that you are hidden inside Christ and Christ is hidden in God. Therefore, let no man trouble you for you carry in your body the wounds of Jesus (Gal.6; 17).
If you are bereft of God’s power and authority to heal, deliver, preach and represent Jesus Christ well here on earth, receive the grace, auction, anointing, the enablement in Jesus Name, Amen. I pray you O Holy Spirit to fill your people with your power and auction to be your effective representative here on earth for the betterment of the church and for your own Glory in Jesus name, Amen.
