As the level and frequency of infraction of the laws of the land rise so too are incidents child abuse spiraling to an all-time high.As always, it is usually adults abusing minors especially placed in their care or even their own offspring. Collect this money?’ Samuel who apparently had tried to evade his irate uncle was later caught and beaten up by the said uncle who had also plugged in and used the hot iron to press his buttocks thereby inflicting burns on him. On getting the report, Enugu Stat Government despatched a team led by the Commissioner for Gender Affairs, Hon.Peace Nnaji, accompanied by newsmen, reiterated the state government’s commitment to fighting Child Abuse of any kind in the state.

She disclosed that a Non-Governmental Organisation, African Network for Prevention and Protection against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN) drew her attention to the incident. ” I immediately informed the Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, of the abuse and he had mandated the Commissioner of police to carry out investigations, so that the perpetrator would be brought to book.” Gov. Speaking, the National President of ANPPCAN Nigeria, Prof. Peter Ebigbo, said that the organisation was out to ensure justice for the child. ” We have constantly pursued issues of child abuse and neglect and this is one part of it.” ANPPCAN Nigeria also do advocacy and this issue is abuse and neglect that is why we have brought this boy to the hospital.

He noted that the organisation had been struggling to ensure that finance does not decrease their work significantly.” We are happy that we have found a good company with the Enugu State Government through the Commissioner for Gender Affairs,” he said.
