The Enugu Diocesan 40-day prayer which commenced on January 9, 2019 and ended on February 17, was concluded at the Diocesan CCRN prayer land, Emene near the Emmanuel Town base of the Upper Room Ministries, Enugu of the Rev. Fr. Njoku fame.
The 40-day programme of prayer and fasting had actually been held at parochial level and later culminates at the diocesan level and has been on going for some years now as a way of beginning the new year. This year’s event held under the broad theme of “With Jesus In the Boat” attracted ministers of the word and other members of the CCRN.
In a message after a pontifical concelebrated holy mass, Fr. Ejike Mbaka, speaking on the broad theme of “With Jesus In the Boat” urged all Christians to be rooted in Jesus Christ and involve in him all things they do and that by so doing Christ would always abide with them.
He enjoined all the Charismatic’s and Christians who had gathered from all the parishes to remain steadfast and trust in Jesus citing the biblical incident when Peter and his colleagues had to wake Jesus from sleep to avert their boat sinking and later prayed for them.
Fr. Mbaka had in conjunction with priests present named the diocesan prayer land, Peniel or penuel which means the Face of God according Gen. 32, vs 30, after that fabled place where Jacob rested with the Lord.
Before the message was given, a fund raising ceremony had followed for the cleaning, fencing and development of the land with Fr. Mbaka firing the salvo with a donation of Ten whopping Million Naira coupled with a promise to clear the land.
