Some sex positions are better than others for getting pregnant. When the sperms are trying to swim all the way up to the fallopian tubes, be kind and give them a little extra help by choosing a sex position that angles them upwards.
The best positions are as follows:
The missionary position: The missionary position is one of the best sex positions to get pregnant fast. In the missionary position, the woman lies on her back with her legs spread, both of her knees bent and feet firm on the bed. The man is on top facing her. There are additional variations on this position to help sperm penetration. The woman can raise one or both of her legs while the man holds them or places them on his shoulders. When the woman lies on her back, the vagina tilts downwards towards the cervix. This makes it easier for the sperm to get through the cervix and into the uterus. Also a plus for the missionary position is that it allows the penis to penetrate more deeply into the vagina, so sperm can enter the cervix more directly right after ejaculation.
To help retain sperm in the vagina after ejaculation:
Keep the penis in the vagina as deeply as possible so that a minimal amount of sperm leaks out
After withdrawing the penis, gently press the woman’s labia together to prevent further leakage
The woman should remain lying on her back for additional 20 to 30 minutes, preferably with her lower back supported by a pillow so her pelvis is tilted slightly upwards. You can also raise your legs up after intercourse by placing your feet on the wall.
Note that it is normal for some of the ejaculate to flow out of the vagina when the woman gets up, but this won’t lessen her chance of getting pregnant because at this point most of the sperm remaining in the vagina are no longer viable.
Lying side-by-side: This position can be a relaxing and as well as an easier position for a husband who is overweight or has a back problem. You can do this either face-to face or in the “spoon” position with the man entering her vagina from behind.
The rear-entry position: This position also allows the man to enter the woman’s vagina from behind. She either lies on her abdomen, kneels, or in such a way that the sperm can be deposited close to the cervix in order to enhance penetration.
Apart from having intercourse with your wife in these positions to achieve pregnancy, men should also look inward to know whether they are the cause of the problem.
When a couple is trying to get pregnant, most of the attention is focused on the woman. But then half of the problem may be from the man. If you are thinking about becoming a dad, here is a list of what you can do to achieve your desire before trying to make your wife pregnant.
Get a medical checkup: Make an appropriate effort to see your doctor, especially if you have a chronic disease like diabetes or severe infections. Take medications and treat the diseases so as to be free.
It is good idea to have a complete physical examination with your doctor to check for conditions that may affect infertility. Some conditions to watch out include:
Varicoceles, which are enlarged veins on the scrotum (the skin covering the testicles) . Varicoceles prevent the testicles from cooling normally and this affects the mobility of the sperm. Although varicoceles are usually harmless and no one knows how they relate to infertility, but 40 percent of men with fertility problem have varicoceles. The good news is that it is treatable, so check yourself and get treated so you can become the dad you’ve always desired.
Sexually transmitted infections: Infections can also cause infertility in men and so they should test for infections and get themselves properly treated when trying to achieve pregnancy or father a child.
Prostatitis (Inflammation of the prostrate) or mumps which may result in swollen testicles leading to a male infertility. This problem can be medically handled so as to reduce and remove your difficulty in fathering a child.
Also let your health care provider know about everything you are taking, whether it is prescribed or over- the-counter drugs. This is because certain drugs affect either the quality or quantity of sperm and can cause male infertility. Such drugs include:
Some high blood pressure drugs
A few antibiotics
Some medications used to treat diseases like fungal infections, peptic ulcer and seizures.
In most cases, the effect is reversible once you are off the drugs. Anabolic steroids which body builders use to bulk up, are well studied and evidence show that they can reduce sperm count.
Also exposure to pesticides, heavy metals and organic solvents can affect the quantity and quality of your sperm. It is important that you as a man should check yourself thoroughly and get treated of any infertility problem instead of allowing your wife to be subjected to different treatments which you do not partake in. When desiring to be parent and it is not forthcoming as expected, the couple should be involved in any suggested treatment and seek for solution together in a loving and understanding way.
