The Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, Prof. Benjamin Ozumba, has ruled out the possibility of providing intra-campus buses for students.
This is also as he ruled out payment of promotion arrears to workers of the university. Ozumba disclosed this at the weekend. The Enugu campus of the university
While answering questions on concerns raised by workers over promotion arrears, the vice chancellor said as a matter of federal government’s policy, payment of promotion arrears was no longer obtainable.
On the issue of monetization, Ozumba said the university would make fund available to the affected workers as soon as it was released by the Federal Government.
Speaking on his achievements so far in office, Prof. Ozumba disclosed that his administration had “pursued our plans, and we have recorded some mileages.”
“In pursuit of students’ welfare, we have boosted regular supply of water in our campuses by Prof. Ozumba sinking boreholes to serve the students’ hostels.
“We have been promoting and will continue to promote staff welfare. This administration has instituted various reward systems to motivate our academic staff to carry out impact – based researches and scientific innovations and inventions”.
The vice chancellor, who equally stated that the university has made tremendous leap in rankings by moving to the 2nd in Nigeria and 13th in Africa, said two new faculties has been created.
He gave their names as the Faculties of Vocational Education and that of the Basic Medical Sciences.
